MLP MAYHEM PREVIEW: Josh Alexander vs. Stu Grayson

It’s a three-part celebration of the first season of MLP Mayhem and it kicks off this Wednesday with one of the most important matches in MLP history, the unification to prove who the MAPLE LEAF PRO Canadian Heavyweight Champion deserves to be. It all airs this Wednesday on MLP Mayhem at 12am ET/9pm PT.

From day one, both “The Walking Weapon” Josh Alexander and Stu Grayson have cemented their spots in MLP as Canadian vanguards of professional wrestling, from the smallest of indies to the global stage. They debuted in MLP in the same six-man tag, members of the Canadian MLP team that fought off the international showcase.

Over the past two years, Stu Grayson and Josh Alexander have proved they are the definition of Canadian blooded grapplers, putting their bodie on the line in competition both in MLP and around the world.

At MLP Northern Rising 2025 in May, a 20-man gauntlet for the gold was held to determine the new MLP Canadian Heavyweight Champion, featuring some of the most diverse names in pro wrestling – including Josh Alexander – including Matt Cardona, Billy Gunn, Raj Dhesi (Jinder Mahal), PCO, Rhino, Psycho Mike and many more. In the end, it was Josh Alexander who was crowned the inaugural MLP Canadian Champion, the first Maple Leaf champion since the Canadian Championship was dissolved in 1984.

Josh Alexander’s talent would not go unnoticed, and he soon joined All Elite Wrestling (AEW), joining Don Callis’ Family. After nearly a year as MLP Canadian Champion, Josh Alexander would announce to the world that he had suffered a major injury and would have to take time off. MLP decided to keep the title on Alexander and crown an MLP Interim Canadian Champion, a brutal contest that would see Stu Grayson become the top name in MAPLE LEAF PRO!

Throughout the course of MLP Mayhem, Stu Grayson would become the new face of the MLP Canadian Championship, with title defences against Jonatham Gresham, Johnny TV and Tyler Breeze. Josh Alexander would return and soon declared he was cleared for in-ring competition, setting up the groundwork for the epic match at MLP Northern Rising 2026 at the Mattamy Athletic Centre (formerly Maple Leaf Gardens).

Two of Canada’s best lock horns in a banger of a match to find out who is the undisputed champion of the Great White North!
